Full text: OSP clears Adu Boahen of corruption allegations

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has concluded its inquiry into corruption accusations against Charles Adu Boahen, the former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.

These allegations stemmed from an investigative exposé conducted by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tigereye PI firm.

The OSP’s report states that the case is being closed because, while Adu Boahen was involved in influence peddling, he did not engage in any actual criminal activity that would necessitate legal action by the Special Prosecutor.

“While Mr Adu Boahen’s behaviour falls under influence peddling, which is closely associated with corruption, there is no specific criminal prohibition under the OSP’s jurisdiction to warrant further action.”

“Based on this evaluation, the Special Prosecutor directs the closure of the investigation into allegations of corruption and corruption-related offences involving Charles Adu Boahen, as detailed in the investigative documentary titled ‘Galamsey Economy’ published by Tiger Eye P.I. The investigation may be reopened should circumstances and additional facts warrant it.”
