Ghana vs Zimbabwe: Daniel Amartey starts at right-back as Dreams FC’s Philimon Baffour fails to impress Milo at training
Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey has been assigned a role to man Ghana’s right-back as the Black Stars take on the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying tie at the Cape Coast Stadium.
With regular Andrew Yiadom missing due to injury, the 20-year-old Philimon Baffour was expected to claim the spot.
But, Serbian tactician Milovan Rajevac has opted to start the English Premier League star at the position instead of the Ghana Premier League player.
The situation has generated talking point among Ghanaian fans who feels the U20 AFCON gold medalist must not be handed future senior call-ups if he is not ready to compete for the position in the team.
Meanwhile, youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku who plays for Division One League side Steadfast FC has convinced Milovan of his abilities and he has opted to start him in offensive midfield. He scored twice during the Black Stars dismantle Soccer Intellectuals 8-0 in a training game three days ago.
