Ghana’s Black Princesses book 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup ticket with 5-1 aggregate triumph over Ethiopia’s Lucy
Ghana’s U20 women’s national team – the Black Princesses – have reached the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals after beating Ethiopia on a 5-1 aggregate result.
Forward Abdulai Salamatu scored a brace to hand a 2-1 second-leg victory to Ben Forkuo’s girls at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The 18-year-old raced the Princesses into the lead with a 2nd-minute finish before cushioning the lead with a 25th-minute finish from a Cecilia Nyama assist. Salamatu scored four out of the five goals registered by Ghana in two legs. She hit a brace in the first leg played in Adis Ababa a fortnight ago.
Prior to her finish, Hasaacas Ladies’ Doris Boaduwaa came close to extending the advantage for Ghana but her effort was saved by the visitors’ goalkeeper.
Ethiopia pulled a goal back just around the half-hour mark but their effort wasn’t enough as the Princesses went ahead to secure the victory.
