Zimbabwe 0-1 Ghana – Player Ratings: Partey, Iddrisu & Kudus prove their mettle in Harare clash
Arsenal star Thomas Partey scored the only goal of the game for the Black Stars as the West African powerhouse secured a vital away win where Group G foes South Africa failed.
Milovan Rajevac rang changes in his starting line-up by introducing Benjamin Tetteh and Baba Iddrisu while Andre Ayew and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku dropped to the bench.
Despite Thomas Partey’s brilliance, Kudus Mohammed was one of the players who shone on the day.

Jojo Wollacott – 6/10
Failed to deal with a scary situation from a set piece from the right but he eventually settled into the game.
Daniel Amartey – 7/10
Saw his goal-bound effort scooped off the line by the Zimbabwe defence after Talbert Shumba failed to deal with a Jordan Ayew corner kick in the 42nd minute.
Baba Rahman – 6.5/10
He limited Zimbabwe’s chances from his side of the defence and played very well with Kamaldeen in both offensive and defensive duties.
Jonathan Mensah – 7/10
Great partnership with Djiku. The Columbus Crew captain offered the Black Stars defensive solidity and was able to organise and maintain the defensive lines that were able to deal with almost every Zimbabwe attack.
Alexander Djiku – 7/10
Manned the backline with steel resilience. He was booked for a foul on Billiat and that leaves him with just a booking away from suspension. Suffered an injury and was replaced by Celta de Vigo defender Joseph Aidoo on the 73rd-minute mark.
Baba Iddrisu Mohammed – 8/10
He was restored into his starting place as the holding midfielder and he dazzled with aplomb, destroying opposition build-up play and linking up well with Partey and Kudus.
Thomas Partey – 8.9/10
Scored a beauty to put Ghana 1-0 ahead with a superbly struck free-kick that beat Free State Stars goalkeeper Talbert Shumba. The Arsenal man has now scored back to back against the Warriors in the series.
Kudus Mohammed – 8.5/10
The Ajax man unleashed an ambitious 29th-minute drive from range that drew applauds from the few spectators watching at the National Sports Stadium. He even successfully took on and resisted the challenge of five opposition players. In the 51st minute, he rattled the crossbar with a beautifully curled effort.
Benjamin Tetteh – 7/10
The No.3 received little service inside the area as the lead man in the Ghana attack. He won the foul that led to the goal for Ghana.
Kamaldeen Sulemana – 6.9/10
Was a delight to watch from the left wings. The Rennais man was electrifying to watch. He came close to scoring on the 19th-minute mark when he took on his marker inside the box. Won Milovan’s side crucial set-pieces. Replaced by Daniel-Kofi Kyereh on the hour mark.
Jordan Ayew – 6/10
Enjoyed a decent first 45 minutes in which he played well in tight spaces and delivered tailor-made passes that usually broke the defensive lines of the opposition.
