Hasaacas Ladies at it again, finish WPL first round unbeaten

Defending champions, Hasaacas Ladies put up a sterling performance to beat Thunder Queens 2-1 to end the first round of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) unbeaten.

Veronica Appiah and Doris Boaduwaa scored the team’s two goals in the first half before Leticia Adjei pulled one back to end the game 2-1 in favour of Hasaacas at the Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman.

Appiah capitalised on a defensive blunder in the 20th minute to punish the homers before forward Boaduwaa doubled the lead for the visitors before the break.

From recess, the homers lifted their game to chase for a point at least. Coach of Thunder Queens, Emmanuel Sellasie introduced new players. This yielded results when substitute Adjei managed to pull one back.

Thunder Queens pushed for an equalizer but the visitors’ defense were too solid to penetrate.

The West Africa champions ended travelling back to Takoradi with the maximum points.

Coach Yussif Basigi’s side finished the first round unbeaten with 21 points out of a possible 27. They won six matches and drew three.

The second round of the WPL will resume in a fortnight.

The WPL is supported by Betway Ghana.
