Hearts defender Larry Sumaila delighted with goal and assist in friendly win

Defender Larry Sumaila is delighted with his scoring performance for Hearts of Oak in their friendly triumph over third-tier side Adabraka Welder on Wednesday morning.

Sumaila, 26, started the game on the right side of defence with captain Fatawu Mohammed away on international duty with Ghana’s Black Stars as he scored and assisted Isaac Mensah who hit a brace in the game.

The right-back got on the score-sheet as Samuel Boadu’s clobbered Welders 3-0. And, he has expressed delight at his scoring performance for the Rainbow club who are busily preparing for the first-leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary tie against Guinean opposition CI Kamsar.

“Grateful to start the month with a goal and an assist. Thank you God for keeping things running smoothly,” he tweeted via his Twitter handle.

Hearts are expected to take on Inter Allies in another friendly before they fly out to Conakry on September 10 for the first-leg tie two days time at the Nongo-Stade General Lansana Conte.

CAF have named Malian center referee Sory Ibrahima Keita Sory and assistants is Drissa Kamory Niare with Amadou Belly Guisse Amadou as the assistant 2 both from Mali to officiate the game.

With Fatawu expected to continue to train with the Black Stars ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia in Cape Coast on Friday Larry will fill the void in the subsequent games until Boadu announces his squad that will make the trip to Guiean.
