MTN FA Cup final: Don’t be surprised if AshantiGold beat Hearts – Ignatius Fosu [Pure FM]

AshantiGold could beat Hearts of Oak to the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup trophy on Sunday, according to Eleven Wonders head coach Ignatius Osei Fosu.

The young tactician believes Hearts of Oak have a slight advantage over the Miners but insists the Miners can emerge as winners at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts are chasing an historic sixth Ghana double with burning desire to annex the FA Cup title – a trophy the Phobians last lifted in 2001 after beating Real Tamale United 1-0 in the final.

AshantiGold on the other hand have not won the title since 1993 but remain buoyant ahead of the final which could earn them GHS100,000 as winners prize money.

Fosu believes Hearts, 10-time winners of the Cup, stand as favourite following their impressive form guide but there is a chance for AshantiGold to also win the ultimate.

“Going by what Hearts have done in recent weeks they are on fire and play very well. I think that gives them a slight advantage but nobody should be surprised should AshantiGold beat them to the trophy,” he told Bright Kankam Boadu on Kumasi-based Pure FM.

The former Liberty Professionals trainer also revealed 26-year-old midfielder Stephen Owusu Banahene is the best holding midfielder in the country despite playing just 11 games for the Miners.

However he admitted the Miners’ will have problems if they are not able to shape up very well in lateral defence.

Meanwhile Hearts of Oak are chasing their sixth Ghanaian double.
