Rivers Angels 1-3 Hasaacas Ladies FC – Hasmal Ladies win Women’s WAFU Zone B Champions League final after mauling Nigerian champions

Hasaacas Ladies have been crowned champions of WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League after beating Nigerian giants Rivers Angels 3-1 in the final clash in Abidjan on Thursday night.

Veronica Appiah raced the Ghanaian champions into a 1-0 lead under 1 minutes when she shot past the Nigerian goalkeeper.

However Hasaacas failed to protect the lead as Angels drew parity 9 minutes later through Vivian Ikechukwu.

Hasaacas however restored their lead 3 minutes before the interval when Perpetual Agyekum hit a ferocious free kick which sailed unstoppably into the net.

The Nigerian side pressed for the equaliser but it was rather the Ghanaian side who further extended their lead after Azumah Bugre fired a thunderous effort from the edge of the box to put Hasmal 3-1 up on the 57 minute mark.

The Dooo Ladies secured their final berth after beating Burkina Faso’s USFA 2-0 in the semi-finals thanks to goals from Veronica Appiah and Doris Boaduwaa.

Hasmal will now represent West Africa in Egypt in the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
