Though the COVID-19 pandemic has denied players, athletes, coaches, fans, media men and tourists the opportunity of exploring Japan, enjoy the fete offered by sports, make contacts, host seminars to discuss ideas and most importantly explore the Japanese culture, Ghana’s sole sports-only television channel GTV Sports+ has alternative plans to help bring the feel of Japanese culture to Ghanaians and audiences watching the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games from their home screens.

GTV Sports+, a sports-only wing of Ghana’s national broadcaster, have a studio set up designed to fit the cultural diversity of the East Asian nation.

Designed with a touch of art and class informed by finest Japanese master-touch based on how the Japanese traditionally sit on the floor which has long been part of Japan’s way of life, the Studio 5 makes everybody feels like he or she is already in Tokyo.

Presenters and guests on all shows on the platform will have a first hand experience of Japanese culture by sitting in a Japanese style or wearing the famous kimonos which is made of the finest silk material with large sleeves and reach from the shoulders all the way down to the heels.

Legendary presenter Kwabena Yeboah, host of the decades old Sports Highlights Show, wore one of the finest kimonos to present the Sports Highlight show on Monday evening.

Ghana has presented 15 athletes to compete for medals – Gold, Silver or Bronze, in various disciplines in the 2020 summer games and Ghanaians are expected to view the games with keen interest.

GTV Sports+ will offer 9 hours of non-stop daily coverage of the games starting from 21st July when the games commence at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.
