Parliament approves financial facility agreements for construction of Bunso- Adawso road, bridge

Parliament on Thursday approved the financial facility agreements for some infrastructural projects in the Eastern Region.

The agreements were approved for the construction of Bunso-Adawso road and bridge and the construction of a bridge over the Afram River at Adawso-Ekyi Amanfrom.

Today’s sitting was presided by First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu.

Speaking on the floor of the House, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh Dompreh noted that the projects to be carried out are game-changers that will positively affect the development of agriculture.

“Apart from the infrastructural outlay and the benefit associated with this agreement, for me, it is a big game-changer for this country.”

He explained that “it is a fact that the Afram region, apart from the northern part of the country, is the food basket. So, for a government to think about a bridge or access facility, to connect these parts of the country, I mean the little we can do is to support.

It is seeking to transform agricultural lives, not only in the Afram region but other adjoining areas.”

“You can see from my colleagues that they are all nodding in approval and in support of this all audacious, important project,” Mr Annoh Dompreh who is the Majority Chief Whip added.

He commended the government and leadership of the Finance Committee in Parliament for the speed with which they looked into the agreements.

Meanwhile, Mr Annoh-Dompreh has entreated his colleagues in Parliament to give their support and ensure the project sees the light of day.
