Black Stars: C.K Akonnor hasn’t been paid for 8 months – Henry Asante Twum [Adom TV]

Ghana FA head of communications Henry Asante Twum has confirmed salary of Black Stars head coach Charles Akonnor has been in outstanding for the past 8 months.

Black Stars management committee chairman George Amoako made a claim two weeks ago that Akonnor had been paid all his outstanding salaries amounting to 7 months.

But, Akonnor reportedly reacted to the comments by denying the claims by the former Asante Kotoko CEO.

In another twist Ghana FA Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo insisted it is not the responsibility of the Ghanaian football governing body to facilitate payment of the former Ghana captain’s salary.

Speaking to Accra-based Adom TV Asante Twum confirmed the coach hasn’t been paid for 8 months.

“He has not been paid contrary to reports. We agree that he hasn’t been paid. We are not happy that he has gone 8 months without salary but we are of strong conviction that the situation won’t disrupt the focus of CK who is drawing intrinsic motivation from the achievement behind qualifying Ghana to the World Cup just like Kwasi Appiah did in 2014,” he told Andy Obeng Kwaku on Adom FM.

Akonnor will lead Ghana’s Black Stars to begin the qualification process for the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a double-header against Ethiopia and South Africa.
