Match Report: Hearts 2-1 WAFA – Sulley Muntari strikes match-winner for Phobians
Legendary Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari scored the match-winner for Hearts of Oak in their 2-1 win over relegation-trapped WAFA on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old elected himself to convert a penalty won by winger Patrick Razak in the 72nd minute at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Trailing rivals Asante Kotoko by 15 points, the Phobians needed to record victory over the Academy Lads from Sogakope to reduce the points gap between themselves and the Porcupine Warriors.
Kwabena Obeng Junior struck the opening goal for Samuel Boadu’s side a minute into the second-half but Henry Owari levelled for the visitors.
However, Muntari restored the lead for the Phobians when he fired the ball past Kwadwo Bonsu in the visitors’ post.
