Criticisms have come down heavily on Real Tamale United (RTU) coach Baba Nuhu after he wore a TSG Hoffenheim replica jersey to a Ghana Premier League post-match press conference.
Local football followers have raised questions about why the Black Maidens (Ghana female U17) head coach failed to wear RTU’s brand to the post-match interview at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Saturday.
Clubs in Ghana are becoming more and more conscious of branding tending to shift the attention from foreign leagues to local clubs with leading clubs Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak shining the light for other clubs to follow.
It is unknown whether the Ghana FA has measures in place to limit local clubs from projecting superior foreign leagues and clubs over domestic content.
Hoffenheim, the German Bundesliga club, has a partnership with the Ghanaian club Hearts of Oak. However, the Phobians have never worn any replica of the Sinsheim-based club to any official event.
RTU crawled from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Kotoko at the Aliu Mahama Stadium to temporarily move 8th on the league table.
