Ghana international Elisha Owusu has insisted he took the right decision to commit a ‘crucial’ foul in Gent’s victory over Anderlecht in the 2022 Belgian Cup.

Owusu was introduced as a 106th-minute substitute for Sven Kums and the ex-Lyon man played a crucial role in the success story.

But, the 24-year-old was booked by referee Lawrence Visser at the King Baudouin Stadium in Monday night’s clash for a harsh challenge on an Anderlecht player.

An elated Owusu tells Asempa FM’s Enoch Worlanyo that he committed a necessary foul to keep his team in the game.

“My teammates were all tired so I needed to commit the foul to ensure we avoid a situation of conceding late in the game,” he told Enoch Worlanyo on Asempa FM.

Gent won the tie 4-3 on penalties after the regulation time ended 0-0.
