The eight conditions Ghana must meet before hosting Nigeria on March 25 in crucial qualifier

The Ghana Football Association have been given a one-match permit by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier playoff between Ghana and Nigeria at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, March 25.

The Black Stars were scheduled to play the Super Eagles at the Cape Coast Stadium in the first leg but CAF received complaints from Nigeria regarding the unfit condition of the stadium with less than two weeks to go.

The action from Ghana’s opposition prompted CAF to move the crucial encounter away from the Central region with the Baba Yara Stadium now given the off to host the game.

However, the game can only go ahead in Kumasi should the GFA meet the requirements outlined by CAF ahead of the fixture.

The conditions listed include;

  1. Installation of new international standard, modern and comfortable officials’ benches at pitch level;
  2. Adjustment of the floodlight intensity. A minimum of 1200 Lux should be provided all over the pitch, covering uniformly every area of the playing field;
  3. Increase seating and lockers in the teams’ dressing rooms to reach (25) persons;
  4. Installation of completely new modern equipment and materials in the referees dressing rooms and ensure that is equipped with all the necessary materials and CAF requirements;
  5. Set up the water system to provide both cold and hot water in the teams and officials dressing room;
  6. General refurbishment of the CAF office, installation of modern desks and seats, including the necessary electronic and working equipment;
  7. VOC must be available and equipped with all the necessary equipment and requirements;
  8. Complete refurbishment of the media tribune, press conference room and media centre, installing new and modern equipment.

CAF also stated that a stadium inspector would need to be appointed to conduct an on-site assessment of the stadium to endure that the conditions are met up till the day of the match.
