Steven Mukwala sets 2022/23 Ghana Premier League goal record with 10 games to end season

Uganda international forward Steven Mukwala Dese has set a record in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League after netting a brace against Real Tamale United in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Mukwala, 23, has become the first player to register a hattrick of brace in the ongoing season.

Sunday became the third time the forward has registered double digits in a game for Kotoko who have won the league title 24 times.

The former Uganda Revenue Sporting Club striker has scored 10 league goals in 22 games and has just a goal to catch up with leading scorer Mezack Afriyie who has netted 11 times.

The striker first registered a brace on matchday 14 against relegation-trapped Kotoku Royals when Kotoko hammered them 5-1.

He got on the double once more when he netted a brace against Accra Lions in a matchday 16 game at the same venue.

The forward has now joined Yaw Annor, Franck Mbella, Ibrahim Laar, and Cameroonian Georges Mfegue Omgba who have registered double digits at least on three times in a season in the last two seasons.
