'We will know 2023 AFCON budget after the tournament' - Sports Ministry PRO

The Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Charles Amofah, has revealed the Black Stars budget for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is not yet ready.

According to him, the ministry is still working to put the final details to it while asking Ghanaians to support the team.

The Black Stars are set to leave Ghana for Ivory Coast on Wednesday, January 10, to pursue a fifth AFCON title.

Quizzed on the team’s budget for the tournament on Angel Sports, Amofah said: “The AFCON budget is a work in progress. Ghanaians will know after the tournament.”

“For now, we will entreat everyone to pray for the team.”

Chris Hughton’s boys wrapped up their pre-tournament camping in Kumasi with a goalless draw against Namibia Monday night.

Ghana are drawn in Group B alongside Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique. The Black Stars will face Cape Verde in their opener on Sunday, January 14.
