Wisconsin International University College holds 4th matriculation
Young people’s interest and involvement in politics in Ghana is a thriving trend in many tertiary institutions.
Head of the Kumasi campus of the Wisconsin International University College, Prof. Kofi Sraku-Lartey, is entreating the youth to cherish consensus building to be able to solve Ghana’s leadership challenges.
He observed that tertiary institutions provide an avenue for young people with diverse political interests to work together for the common good.
Prof. Kofi Sraku-Lartey was addressing the 4th matriculation ceremony of Wisconsin International University College, Kumasi Campus.
“Ghana is facing serious economic and other challenges. The solution to these problems call for the sharing of ideas from all corners and political persuasions. We should not allow politics to widen our differences such that we cannot even agree to disagree.
“This is why I want to turn to you the youth of today. Remember that consensus building starts here within the walls of the university. If you do not learn from what is happening and decide to work together, I can bet you that the future for this country will be very bleak,” he said.
Wisconsin International University College matriculated five hundred and seventy-six students who have enrolled into the campus this year.
These students have been admitted to pursue various academic programmes.
Prof. Kofi Sraku-Lartey encouraged students to pursue both academic and social excellence.
“Academic success depends on discipline, good time management, dedication, critical thinking and problem-solving, communication and collaboration. You meet all kinds of people and share many ideas. The wisest thing is to learn as much as you can through such interactions and take the good things away. This together with your academic knowledge will take you far,” he said.
The school in the future, plans to establish an Allied Health Sciences Faculty, to offer bachelor’s programmes in Medical Laboratory Science and Health Information Management Systems among others.
