El Akyereko writes: Tagging Nana Yaw Amponsah as a liar because of his Fabio Gama comments exposes ignorance of agenda boys

Anti-Nana Yaw Amponsah operatives working in the interest of the current leadership of the Ghana FA administration have reduced themselves to public ridicule after displaying blatant ignorance in the matters relating to player transfer.

In the case of David Alaba, who was transferred to Spanish giants Real Madrid on free transfer, still cost Real Madrid cost the UEFA Champions League record-winners money even though there was no transfer fee involved.

Real Madrid still paid Alaba, his agent, and father in excess of 29 million Euros for his free transfer to the UEFA Champions League record-winners

On Friday FMG, a web portal owned and operated by cannon fodder bloggers, published an article with the headline: “BOMBSHELL: Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah caught in gargantuan lie over Fabio Gama transfer.

In the article the writer claims the Asante Kotoko CEO lied when six months ago he told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM that Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama was acquired on free transfer which did not come with any transfer cost  to the Porcupine Warriors: “We chased Anim Cudjoe fruitlessly so we realised that Fabio Gama was free. And knowing what he could give us, if he will come and play for Kotoko without any signing-on fee, no transfer fee and even if the salary is manageable, within six months we can sell him to get back enough money to run the club.”

Last week during a series of radio interviews in Accra and Kumasi the 2019 Ghana FA Presidential candidate said on Pure FM: “Transfer fees for Fabio Gama and agent’s commission all put together is $10k which has not been paid. In effect, the acquisition of Fabio Gama cost Kotoko $10,000 which is about ₵60k which has not been paid yet.”

So in the minds of the media house and the blogger the Kotoko CEO lied for saying the transfer was free. The publication was just targeted at smearing the image and the reputation of the CEO and courting disaffection for him among the Kotoko faithfuls.

Using the David Alaba and the Real Madrid case reveals Nana Yaw Amponsah did not lie in the contest of the interviews he granted because Real Madrid paid the player, his agent and father in excess of 29 million Euros.

The fact that a player is free doesn’t mean he just walks into a new club as a free agent with no cost attached to the transfer at all. There are agency fees mostly paid in commission to the representatives of the player as seen in the case of Alaba and mostly signing on fee. Gama was indeed a free agent when he signed for Kotoko and as demanded by conventions of the trade Kotoko ought to paid the people involved in the bloc of the business transactions which led to his signature.

Gama, 28, scored 5 times in 28 appearances for Kotoko and was arguably the Porcupine Warriors’ best player of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.
