2021 AFCON: Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah shares his opinion about Black Stars’ draw [Pure FM]

Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah has shared his opinion about the Black Stars’ draw for the 2021 AFCON tournament which comes off in Cameroon in January.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group C along with North Africa giants Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.
Ghana, who have reached the semi-finals 7 times in the last 8 attempts, have been tipped as one of the front runners for the title which has eluded the West African powerhouse since 1982.

But, midfielder Afriyie Acquah who plays for Saudi club Al-Batin insists the Black Stars cannot afford to underrate any team in Group C.

“There are no minnows in football anymore and in the AFCON competition its not as easy as we might want to conceive it. You might want to underrate a nation and classify them as minnows but no game will come easy for us. I wouldn’t want us to consider any nation in the group as an easy target because that isn’t the case,” he told Kumasi-based Pure FM.

The former Sampdoria midfielder has urged players who will get selected to represent Ghana to give off their maximum best at the tournament.

“I believe those who will get to be in the squad for the tournament would have to give off their best to ensure Ghana make it out of the group stages,” he ended.

Acquah has been capped 39 times by Ghana and was in the Black Stars team that finished second at the 2015 edition in Equatorial Guinea.
