Ghana legend Tony Yeboah has cast doubts over the Black Stars title credentials ahead of the 2021 AFCON tournament which kick starts on Sunday.

The Black Stars have not won the ultimate at the AFCON since the 13th edition which was staged in Libya in 1982.

Ghanaian fans have been waiting for the day the Black Stars, once ranked among the top 20 footballing countries in the world, to end the trophy drought.

But, Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to title-holders Algeria in Doha has cast doubt over the title hopes of the Black Stars leaving many to lose hope in the team.

Meanwhile, ex-Leeds United and Frankfurt star striker Tony Yeboah has ruled out the four-time champions of the race for the title.

“It will be difficult for Ghana to win the AFCON but everything is possible in life, so we should pray behind the team. To me, we cannot win the trophy with this team but anything can happen in football. We’ve had several good players but we were unable to win the title. I believe if we are able to organize things well, anything can happen,” he told Captain Smart on Onua TV on Friday.

Ghana are in Group C together with Morocco, Comoros and Gabon.
