Achiken FC owner Emmanuel Danso Akonkoh fingers Edmund Ackah in stinking bribery allegation [Asempa FM SportsNite]

Owner of Ghanaian Division One League side Achiken FC, Emmanuel Danso Akonkoh, has levelled a bribery allegation against the CEO of FC Samartex Edmund Ackah.

The young football administrator claimed on Asempa FM’s SportsNite show that Ackah has been bribing referees to influence the outcome of matches in the Ghanaian second-tier league.

Ackah, who previously worked with giants Asante Kotoko in various capacities, was contacted by Asempa FM’s Philip Otuo to respond to the allegations but he declined to comment at the time insisting he was sleeping at the time.

“Edmund Ackah is behind the payment bribes to referees. If he can swear that he hasn’t paid a bribe to a referee to influence the outcome of a game before then he would be cursing himself. Some clubs are paying bribes in the region of GHS4,000 and GHS5,000 to referees to help them win matches,” he told Enoch Worlanyo on Asempa FM’s SportsNite.

Meanwhile, Akonkoh revealed that the Police Criminal Investigations Department – CID, has launched an investigation into the matter and would release its findings soon.

“A referee took money to alter the outcome of matches and he told me to my face that nobody can do anything to him,” he added.
