Adamant Black Stars coach Otto Addo SNUBS World Cup-hopeful Asamoah Gyan in latest squad to face Brazil

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo failed to look in the direction of Asamoah Gyan as he names his 29-man squad for September’s FIFA international friendly duels against Brazil and Nicaragua.

On Tuesday morning the Ghana FA released a list of 29 players for the two games which will be played in France and Spain as part of Ghana’s preparations for the World Cup.

Gyan, who turns 37 in November, hasn’t played for the Black Stars since July 2019 in the AFCON tournament in Egypt yet he is not giving up hopes of playing at the Mundial in Qatar in November 2022.

However, in two of the key build up games he would use to assess his players, he didn’t consider Gyan for a place in his squad despite the former Sunderland striker scoring in an invitational game during the weekend in Eswatini.

Instead the Addo named Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Spain-based Inaki Williams in his attack.

Below is the list.

Goalkeepers – Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Jojo Wollacott, Richard Ofori

Defenders – Alidu Seidu, Denis Odoi, Tariq Lamptey, Baba Rahman, Gideon Mensah, Alexander Djiku, Salisu Mohammed, Daniel Amartey, Joseph Aidoo, Stephan Ambrosius.

Midfielders: Kudus Mohammed, Thomas Partey, Iddrisu Baba, Elisha Owusu, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, Andre Ayew

Forwards: Kamaldeen Sulemana, Osman Bukari, Antoine Semenyo, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Jordan Ayew, Ransford Yeboah, Felix Afena-Gyan, Benjamin Tetteh, Inaki Williams.
