AFC Futsal Asian Cup: Japan 2-0 Vietnam – Kazuya Shimizu’s brace propels super efficient Samurai Five to quarter-final

Japan’s Samurai Five have claimed the top spot in Group D after ousting Vietnam 2-0 in a super-efficient display at the Saad Al Abdullah Hall in the 2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Kuwait.

Substitute forward Kazuya Shimizu resisted a challenge from his marker to strongly bullet the ball past the Vietnamese keeper.

After minutes after the interval, Neto Antonio had a glaring chance at goal forever he failed to utilize it as he put the ball wide.

Japan captain Arthur Oliveira desirously fired a fierce shot at goal but his effort was stopped by the Vietnamese keeper who was at full stretch.

Vietnam had defended strongly and held the Japanese at bay for most parts of the second period. However, Kazuya Shimizu managed to break the back of their defence as he graciously cracked a powerful shot that came off the far post before sailing in for the second goal.

Japan will now face the runner-up from Group C which could be either Indonesia, Lebanon, or Chinese Taipei.
