Ghanaian winger Augustine Okrah called for Ghana Premier League referees to protect players after his teammate Emmanuel Avornyo received a potential career-threatening tackle from Kotoko captain Abdul Ganiyu Ismail.
Avornyo was at the receiving end of a dangerous tackle on the hour mark at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium during Kotoko’s 2-0 victory over Bechem United.
Okrah, who left Kotoko at the end of the season to join Bechem, started the game against his former club.
Nice game today. I was elated to be back to Baba Yara Sports Stadium and thanks to the supporters for the warm reception.
Congrats to Kotoko for the win.
Ghanaian referees should be bold & protect players. Anyway, we will take our chances next time.#OkrahMagic pic.twitter.com/QKrpqDhMoj

The winger complained about a poor challenge from Kotoko captain Abdul Ganiyu on his colleague on the hour mark that the referee failed to send him off.
Kotoko assumed leadership of the Ghana Premier League table after matchday 2 after recording straight wins, scoring 5, and conceding 1 in the process.
