Augustine Okrah questions referee Opoku Antwi’s performance in Bechem United loss to Kotoko

Bechem United winger Augustine Okrah has suggested referee Gabriel Opoku Antwi showed cowardice during the Hunters’ 2-0 loss to Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Okrah, who left the Porcupine Warriors at the end of the season, started the game for Bechem as Abdul Ismail Ganiyu and Samuel Boateng scored two late goals to grind the results for Kotoko.

However, the performance of center referee Gabriel Opoku Antwi didn’t impress the winger as he took to Twitter to criticise him after the match.

“Ghanaian referees should be bold & protect players. Anyway, we will take our chances next time,” A vocal Okrah tweeted.

“Nice game today. I was elated to be back [at] Baba Yara Sports Stadium and thanks to the supporters for the warm reception. Congrats to Kotoko for the win,” he added.

The winger was complaining about a poor challenge from Kotoko captain Abdul Ganiyu on him on the hour mark which the referee failed to send him off.

Kotoko assumed leadership of the Ghana Premier League table after matchday 2 after recording straight wins, scoring 5, and conceding 1 in the process.
