BREAKING: Ghanaian striker Abdul Aziz Yakubu joins Portuguese club Rio Ave

Ghanaian youth attacker Abdul Aziz Yakubu has completed his transfer to Portuguese second-tier side Rio Ave.

Yakubu, 22, was strongly linked with a move to Azerbaijani professional football club giants Qarabag after enjoying an explosive campaign with Estoril where he notched 12 goals in 28 games to help them secure promotion to the Portuguese top-flight in late May.

After several consultation with his representatives and reviewing a number of offers from abroad the attacker has decided to remain in Portugal and has signed a contract with Rio Ave.

Former Chelsea star Christian Atsu once spent a season on loan at the club and the Tamale-born forward, who is nicknamed Zlatan, could emulate his footsteps at the club.

The attacker posted on his Facebook Timeline: New Colors 💚💚💚 Same Mission Rio Ave Futebol Clube 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙌🏿
