Performance of Ghanaian players abroad: 19 players on target, Andre Ayew debuts in Qatar, Atsu in action & more

Ghanaian players returned to action for their various clubs abroad after the international after the international break with 19 players getting on the score-sheet for the clubs in various leagues across the world.

Ghana captain Andre Ayew marked his competitive debut for Al-Sadd in Qatar while Christian Atsu was also in action in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile Ghanaian youngster David Nyarko and Addo-Antoine scored in England’s U18 Premier League.

ENGLAND

Jordan Ayew played 86 minutes for Crystal Palace when they beat 10-man Tottenham Hotspur 3-0. Jeffrey Schlupp missed the game with a thigh injury.

Thomas Partey came off the bench to help Arsenal record a 1-0 win over Norwich City to end their winless run in the Premier League.

Tariqe Fosu watched from the stands as his Brentford side succumbed to a 1-0 home loss to visitors Brighton.

Black Stars defender Daniel Amartey lost his starting place at Leicester City as he dropped to the bench in their 1-0 home loss to Manchester City.

Kumasi-born Salifu Mohammed lasted the entire period of the game Southampton who were held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man West Ham United.

Ghanaian winger Callum Hudson-Odoi started the game for Chelsea in their 3-0 home win over Aston Villa at the Stamford Bridge.

In the Championship both Baba Rahman and Andy Yiadom started the game for Reading in their 3-3 draw with QPR. Albert Adomah came off the bench to play for the away side.

Bristol City and Preston shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw. English-born Ghanaian Antoine Semenyo came off the bench to play the last 25 minutes for the host.

Shieffield United posted a 6-2 victory over Peterborough. Ghanaian midfielder Kwame Adubofour-Poku wasn’t included in the Peterborough squad for the game.

Wycombe held Oxford to a 0-0 draw. Ghanaian Daniel Agyei came off the bench to feature for Oxford.

Ghanaian-born Grenada international Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong played 69 minutes for Aldershot in their 2-1 home loss to Solihull Moors.

Former Charlton Athletic central midfielder Brendon Wiredu played full throttle for Colchester United when they beat Barrow 3-2 at their own backyard. German-born Ghanaian central defender Festus Arthur was unused by the losers.

In the U23 Premier League, Darko Gyabi was in action for Manchester City U23 in their 4-1 victory over Chelsea U23. Kwaku Oduroh didn’t make the City squad for the game.

Leeds United U23 drew 3-3 with West Ham United U23. Ghanaian midfielder Keenan Appiah Forson was in action for 90 minutes for the young Hammers.

In the U18 Premier League, Francis Gyimah was forced off with a head injury while in action for Liverpool U18 when they drew 3-3 in a dramatic game with Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham U18 recorded a 3-2 win over Reading U18. Ghanaian pair of Samuel Amo-Ameyaw and Rio Kyeremateng played for Spurs while David Nyarko and Jordan Addo-Antoine scored both of the consolation goals for Reading. Kevin Abrefa was booked in the second half and played full throttle for the losers.

Charles Sagoe Junior lasted the entire period of the game for Arsenal U18 in their 3-3 draw with Southampton U18.

GERMANY

Hertha Berlin ended their winless run by beating VfL Bochum 3-1 at their own backyard. Kevin-Prince Boateng came off the bench to play for the winners while Christopher Antwi-Adjei also featured for the losers but Raman Chibsah wasn’t in their squad for the game.

Frankfurt and Stuttgart shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. German-born Ghanaian forward Ragnar Ache wasn’t in the Frankfurt squad for the game.

Bayer Leverkusen succumbed to a 4-3 home loss against visiting Borussia Dortmund. Dutch-born Ghanaian right-back Jeremie Frimpong lasted the entire period of the game for Leverkusen.

RB Leipzig named Brian Brobbey on their bench in their clash with Bayern Munich on Saturday which ended 4-1.

Elsewhere at the Sportpark Ronhof Thomas Sommer former Liberty Professionals player Hans Sarpei Nunoo was on the bench for Greuther Furth in their 2-0 home reverse against Wolfsburg.

Kasim Adam Nuhu was axed from the Hoffenheim squad that lost 2-0 to Mainz 05 before home crowd.

Hamburg substituted Jans Gyamerah in the 66th minute when they won 1-0 against Sandhausen.

Black Stars new boy Daniel-Kofi Kyereh was in action for 90 minutes for St Pauli in their 1-0 away loss at Hannover 96.

Black Stars newboy Braydon Manu came off the bench to play for Darmstadt in their 2-1 away loss to Hansa Rostock. Ghanaian defender Patric Pfeiffer played in defence for the losers while Erich Berko was unused.

Heidenheim posted a 2-1 win over Dynamo Dresden. German-born Ghanaian attacker Agyemang Diawusie warmed the bench of the losers but Michael Akoto played 64 minutes. Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer also started the match for Dresden.

Raymond Tachie was in action for 90 minutes Dortmund II in their 2-0 Magdeburg.

Zwickau suffered a 3-1 home loss to Verl. Steffan Nkansah played in central defence for the losers.

Former Hamburg SV player Aaron Opoku was in action for VfL Osnabruck in their 2-2 draw with Braunschweig.

In the Regionalliga West, German-born Ghanaian midfielder Daniel-Danso Somuah scored one of the consolation goals for Bonner in their 3-2 loss at FC Koln II.

Ghanaian youth forward Raphael Assibey-Mensah was unused by Freiburg II in their 1-0 away win over Meppen.

SPAIN

Inaki Williams and his brother Nico Williams both featured for Athletic Bilbao in their 2-0 home win over Real Mallorca. Midfielder Baba Mohammed Iddrisu started the match and lasted 73 minutes.

Central defender Joseph Aidoo was introduced in the 89th minute to play for Celta de Vigo in their 5-2 loss against Real Madrid.

In the third-tier league, Kwasi Sibo came off the bench to play for Real Betis B when they lost 2-0 at Gimnastic on Saturday.

Samuel Obeng helped Real Oviedo to a 2-0 win over Cartagena. Richard Boateng and Dauda Mohammed came off the bench to play for the losers.

English-born Arvin Appiah came off the bench to play for Almeria who lost 1-0 to Ponferradina.

In the Primera Division Women, midfielder Grace Asantewaa lasted 76 minutes for Real Betis in their 5-0 loss to Barcelona.

FRANCE

Paris Saint-Germain consigned Clermont Foot to a 4-0 demolition at the Parc de Princes. Ghanaian youngster Abdul Samed Salis started the game for Clermont while his Ghanaian compatriot Seidu Alidu warmed the bench for the losers.

OGC Nice posted a 2-0 results over Nantes. Osman Bukari was in action for Nantes but Dennis Appiah missed the game with injury.

Kamaldeen Sulemana came off the bench to play 21 minutes for Stade Rennais who lost 2-0 to visiting Stade Reims.

Lyon beat Strasbourg 3-1. Both Majeed Waris and Alexander Djiku played for Strasbourg.

Myron Boadu was introduced on the 60th minute mark by ASMonaco when they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Olympique Marseille.

Quevilly Rouen managed a 2-1 away win over Valenciennes. Emmanuel Ntim was in action for the losers.

Attacker Ebenezer Assifuah was in action for 69 minutes for FC Pau in their 2-1 away win over Caen.

NETHERLANDS

AZ Alkmaar suffered an excruciating 3-0 home loss to visiting PSV Eindhoven. Dutch-born Ghanaian Ernest Poku came off the bench to play for Alkmaar while Cody Gakpo played 62 minutes for the winners.

10-man NEC Nijmegen held Willem II to a 0-0 drawn game on Sunday morning. Derrick Kohn and Okyere Kwasi Wriedt were replaced in the second half while John Yeboah Zamora was unused.

Injured Mohammed Kudus watched Ajax Amsterdam’s 2-0 away win over PEC Zwolle from the screens.

Dutch-born Jamal Amofa played in central defence for ADO Den Haag in their 3-3 draw with Oss on Friday.

Immanuel Bonsu came off the bench to replace Yuya Ikeshita on the 89th minute mark in Jong Utrecht’s 1-0 away win over Jong AZ Alkmaar. His Ghanaian compatriot Ernest Poku started the game for Jong AZ.

Striker Johnathan Opoku played in offensive role for De Graafschap when they lost 3-0 against FC Volendam.

Mitch Apau watched from the Emmen bench when beat Maastricht 7-1.

Midfielder Modeste Duku watched from the Excelsior bench in their 3-1 win over Dordrecht.

In the third-tier league, 22-year-old defender Tyrone Owusu was in action for Scheveningen in their 1-1 draw game with Jong Sparta Rotterdam.

Elsewhere Delano Asante was brought on to play the last 5 minutes for Rijnsburgse Boys in their 2-0 win over Katwijk.

Youngster Edwin Ansah came off the bench to play for Jong Volendam in their 2-2 draw with Noordwijk.

35-year-old defedner Carlos Opoku scored an own-goal while in action for Ajax Amsterdam Amateur side in their 1-0 loss to VV DOVO.

ALBANIA

On the opening day of the Superliga 24-year-old midfielder Reuben Acquah came off the bench on the 90th minute to play for Teuta in their 1-0 win over Partizani Tirana.

Former Dreams FC midfielder Michael Agbekpornu was in action for Egnatia who lost 3-1 at home to Kukesi.

Dutch-born Ghanaian player Alfred Mensah scored one of the consolation goals for Skenderbeu who lost 4-2 against FK Tirana. Ghanaian quartet of Bismarch Ngissah, Joseph Asante, Dennis Dowuona and Randy Dwumfuor were all in the Skenderbeu squad for the game.

HUNGARY

MTK Budapest suffered a 3-2 away loss to Paks. Ghanaian Godswords Amedome watched from the bench of the losers of the match.

ICELAND

Former Dreams FC player Emmanuel Keke captained Olafsvik to a 5-3 home defeat against Grotta in the second division league in Iceland.

Meanwhile England-born Daniel Osafo-Badu was in action for Vestri in their 2-1 away loss to Fjolnir.

ISRAEL

Ghanaian forward Godsway Donyoh played for Maccabi Haifa in their 2-1 win over Sakhnin.

Former Dreams FC midfielder Montari Kamaheni played for Ashdod in their 3-1 home loss to Hapoel Haifa. Abdul Zakaria Mugees came off the bench to play for the losers.

Eugene Ansah scored one of the goals for Hapoel Beer Sheva in their 2-2 draw with Hapoel Hadera.

AUSTRIA

Hartberg claimed a vital away win over Wolfsberger after beating them 3-1 at the Lavanttal-Arena. Former WAFA playmaker Augustine Boakye missed the game with injury while Seth Paintsil failed to make the Hartberg squad for the game.

Kelvin Yeboah lasted the entire 90 minutes for Sturm Graz in their 2-1 home win over A. Klagenfurt.

Former WAFA youngster Forson Amankwah scored the second goal for Liefering in their 6-2 win over SK Rapid Vienna II. 17-year-old Austrian-born Ghanaian defender Samson Baidoo also played 90 minutes for Liefering.

Austrian-born Ghanaian defender Emmanuel Acheampong came off the bench to play 13 minutes for BW Linz who when they won 1-0 over Grazer at the Linzer Stadion.

BELGIUM

Kamal Sowah debuted for Club Brugge KV and assisted the opening goal in their 3-0 win over KV Oostende. Former Ghana U20 midfielder David Atanga came off the bench to play for KV Oostende on the 79th minute mark.

Anderlecht hammered KV Mechelen 7-2. Ghanaian Francis Amuzu scored and assisted for the victors while Majeed Ashimeru came off the bench to play for Anderlecht in the 70th minute.

OH Leuven sneaked past Kortrijk. Eric Ocansey warmed the bench for Kortrijk.

Former Lyon midfielder Elisha Owusu returned from injury to warm the bench for Gent in their 3-2 loss against Charleroi.

Royal Antwerp squeezed a 1-0 result against KAS Eupen. Ghanaian forward Isaac Nuhu started the game for Eupen and played 90 minutes but Belgium-born Ghanaian Pierre Dwomoh warmed the bench for the winners. Ghana goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen did not make the Eupen squad for the game while Emmanuel Adjei Sowah is still out with an injury.

DENMARK

Danish-born Kevin Mensah played full throttle for Brondby in their 1-1 draw with Silkeborg.

Nordsjaelland suffered a 2-0 away defeat at Midtjylland on Friday evening. Ghanaian trio of Lasso Coulibaly, Francis Abu and Maxwell Woledzi all featured for the losers.

Jerome Opoku was unused by Velje in their 1-0 away loss to Aarhus.

Danish-born Ghana midfielder Jeff Mensah wasn’t in the Viborg side that were beaten 3-2 by Aalborg on Sunday.

In the second-tier league former Arsenal Academy goalkeeper Corey Addai continued his bench warming exercise at Esbjerg as he sat on their bench in their 2-1 home win over Hobro. Danish-born Ghanaian Danny Amankwaa started and lasted 55 minutes for the losers.

Former Cheetah FC players Emmanuel Bioh and David Martin were named on the F. Amager bench in their 3-1 home triumph over Nykobing. Martin came off the bench to play but Bioh was unused.

Former Inter Allies player Abdul Hudu was on the bench for Lyngby when they took on Vendsyssel. The game was abandoned due to a serious injury to a player.

Ghana youth defender Frank Assiniki played in central defence for Koge in their 4-3 away loss to Jammerbugt.

ESTONIA

Paide were roundly beaten 3-0 by visiting Levadia. Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Razak Yussif was sent off as early as the 27th minute while Dutch-born Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere and Issahaku Konda both played for the losers.

ITALY

Ghana midfielder Alfred Duncan lasted 76 minutes for Fiorentina when they emerged victorious in a 2-1 away win over Atalanta.

Attacker Emmanuel Gyasi lasted 86 minutes for who suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Udinese.

Caleb Ekuban came off the bench to replace Goran Pandev on the 60th minute when Genoa beat Cagliari 3-2.

In the Serie B, both Brian Oddei and Godfred Donsah were named on the Crotone bench for their 1-1 drawn game Reggina.

Frosinone shared the spoils with Perugia in a 0-0 contest Stadio Benito Stirpe. Ghanaian Manu Gyabuaa warmed the bench for Perugia.

Davis Mensah watched from the Pordenone bench in their 4-0 home loss with Parma.

In the Primavera League, Ghanaian youngster Derrick Gyimah watched from the Torino U19 bench when they posted a 1-0 win over AC Milan U19.

Inter Milan U19 drew 3-3 with Fiorentina U19. Ghanaian youngster Enoch Owusu played the first 45 minutes for Inter.

FINLAND

Mohammed Abubakari helped Mariehamn to record a 2-1 away win over Haka. Ishmael Yartey missed the game with an ankle injury.

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Anthony Annan was replaced on the 77th minute mark by Inter Turku who suffered a 3-1 loss against HJK Helsinki.

Ernest Oteng played 87 minutes for Ilves when they pipped Lahti 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Honka defeated KTP 3-1. Former Ghana youth player Edmund Arko-Mensah came off the bench to play for Honka but defender Nasiru Banahene wasn’t in the Honka squad for the match.

Former Planners defender Mohammed Adams and Geoffrey Acheampong helped Rovaniemi to a 1-0 away win over Klubi 04 who had former Ghana U20 defender Baba Mensah in their starting XI for the game.

Ghanaian duo of Ibrahim Moro and Musah Samudeen played for TB Tvoroyri when Vikingur beat them 6-0.

CROATIA

Ghanaian duo of Prince Obeng Ampem and Issah Abass were in action for Rijeka in their 2-1 home win over Slaven Belupo.

Doxa defeated Anorthosis 2-0. Former Atletico de Madrid youth team player Benjamin Akoto Asamoah played 92 minutes for the winners.

BULGARIA

Elvis Manu made a return from injury to score the opening goal for Ludogorets when they beat Cherno More 2-0 on Saturday.

LATVIA

Former Bechem United midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah was in action for Spartaks in their 3-0 home win over BFC Daugavpils.

Baba Musah was in action for Metta/LU who lost 3-0 to FK Liepaja.

LITHUANIA

Alexander Kyeremeh helped Dainava Alytus to a 3-1 win over Banga.

BELARUS

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Sulley Muniru came off the bench to play 25 minutes for FC Minsk when they lost 2-0 against Zhodino.

Julius Ofori suffered an injury and was replaced on the 40th minute mark while in action for Energetik-BGU when they lost 1-0 to Dinamo Minsk.

CZECH REPUBLIC

Ghanaian midfielder Bismark Agyeman played 66 minutes for Zbuzany when they lost 7-0 against Prepere in the second-tier league.

Elsewhere Torfiq Ali Abubakar scored the consolation goal for Jablonec B in their 2-1 home loss against Mlada Boleslav B.

PORTUGAL

Benfica made a meal of Santa Clara after beating them 5-0. Ghanaian defender Kennedy Boateng was in full time action for the losers.

Defender Abdul Mumin played in central defence for Vitoria Guimaraes in their 0-0 draw with Belenenses.

Gil Vicente drew 2-2 with Vizela. Ghanaian defender Emmanuel Hackman started the game for Vicente while Francis Cann came off the bench to play for Vizela but Richard Ofori wasn’t used.

Kwame Karikari was in action for Nakhon Ratchasima who lost 3-2 against Chiangrai Utd. Kwabena Appiah-Kubi also came off the bench to play for the losers.

TURKEY

Osman Haqi came off the bench to play for Yeni Malatyspor who lost 3-0 at Besiktas. Benjamin Tetteh missed the game with injury and Philip Awuku was benched.

Bernard Mensah scored the opening goal for Kayserispor in their 2-0 win over Kasimpasa. Defender Joseph Attamah also featured for the victors.
