EXCLUSIVE: Ghana giants Hearts of Oak to play against top African clubs in 6-club tournament in Benin next month

Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak have been penciled to participate in the West African Challenge Cup next month in Benin.

The tournament, which will be staged between August 14 and 22, 2021, form part of ceremonial event which will be used to open the newly constructed Stades a l’Afrique facility in Benin.

DR Congo giants AS Vita Club, fast-rising Djiboutian side Arta Solar 7, Horoya Club, Sonabel of Burkina Faso and USN Club of Niger will all participate in the tournament which will kick off on August 14, 2021.

Hearts of Oak, leaders of the Ghana Premier League table with 2 games to end the season, could use the games as preparations to participate in the 2021/22 CAF interclub competition if they win the Ghana Premier League title or the MTN FA Cup title.

The Phobians will travel to Benin’s capital Porto-Novo on August 10 to begin their quest to conquer the rest of the five clubs participating in the tournament.

Organisers of the event, WACC, have appointed Ghanaian communications consortium Spark Golden Media Consult to manage publicity for the event.
