EXCLUSIVE: Kotoko officially explain why Prosper Ogum resigned from his role

Administration and Operations Manager of Asante Kotoko, Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi, has explained events leading up to the resignation of head coach Prosper Ogum.

The Porcupine Warriors’ fraternity was left shocked on Wednesday afternoon as news of the resignation of the 47-year-old became public.

According to multiple media reports, the Kumasi-based club called a meeting to review the club’s performance and also discuss matters including player recruitment, the youth teams, and their upcoming campaign in the CAF Champions League.

With details still coming out, Dasoberi has explained what caused the resignation of the ex-WAFA head coach.

“During the meeting with the board to discuss his report to the management, there was a disagreement over his request to sack 10 players and recruit 17 new players, including four center-backs. It was at the point when some members of the board questioned the justification of some of his requests that Coach Prosper Ogum said he had a two-year contract but wanted to move on with his life, so the club must look for a new coach,” Dasoberi explained to Graphic Online.

Ogum was appointed as head coach of the Porcupine Warriors in September 2021 and led the ‘African Club of the Century’ to win their 25th Ghana Premier League title.
