FEATURE: From the cold Ice mat for Sports to the Blazing Inferno Restaurant – The story of Ghana’s Winter Olympian Kwame Nkrumah Acheampong

The first Ghanaian to compete in the Winter Olympics during the 2010 Vancouver games Kwame Nkrumah Acheampong is skiing himself into retirement with a tourism project – The Inferno Restaurant.

Combining education effectively with a career the internationally acclaimed sports icon nicknamed the Snow Leopard, who printed Ghana’s name on the global map during the games is opening his major tourism project; the Inferno Restaurant in Accra on Saturday 16th April 2022.

The Alpine Skier who broke the race limitations in the white-dominated Sports believes with passion, perseverance, and the right attitude, nothing is beyond humans’ capabilities.

Ghana Sports OnlineThe same attributes and values, he says, drive the Inferno Restaurant project and will be transferred into cutting-edge customer service and impeccable cuisines of sumptuous meals that will leave patrons of the Inferno Restaurant in awe and yearn for repeated visits.

According to Kwame Nkrumah Acheampong, the proceeds from the Inferno Restaurant’s operations will set the basis for other value chain projects earmarked for the eventual construction of an artificial ice arena to promote ice sports to identify and groom more Olympians as well as diversify the sports tourism industry in Ghana.

The construction of the artificial ice arena will be the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa.

Kwame Nkrumah Acheampong competed in Alpine skiing in the 2010 Vancouver games, then Akwasi Frimpong a Skeleton Board Athlete represented Ghana at the PyeongChang 2018 edition while Carlos Mader became Ghana’s sloe Athlete in the Beijing 2022 winter Olympics.
