Match Report: Aduana Stars 0-2 Kotoko – Porcupine Warriors break 11-year jinx in Dormaa Ahenkor

Giants Asante Kotoko ended their winless run against Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park on Saturday as the Porcupine Warriors run away with an impressive 2-0 victory over the Ogya Boys.

Cameroonian Mfegue Omgba registered the opening goal for the red-jerseyed Porcupine Warriors on the 19th-minute mark when he headed home a corner kick from the right.

Moments later, ex-Kotoko left-back Mohammed Abass wriggled his way through the Kotoko backline and had a call for a penalty overlooked by the referee.

Workaholic midfielder Mudasiru Salifu galloped through the middle with ease before unleashing a fierce drive that cannoned off the crossbar with Joseph Addo completely beaten.

Bright Addai couldn’t believe his stars as he blasted a golden chance into the skies on the 66th-minute mark.

Substitute Yahaya Mohammed steered a free header over the bar as the Ogya lads continued their search for the equalising goal.

With the game heading to the dying minutes, Abdul Ismail Ganiyu flighted in a ball from the Kotoko half as Prosper Ogum’s men attempted to find the insurance goal. The long ball fell to youngster Clinton Opoku whose header met the run of substitute Evans Adomako. However, Joseph Addo zoomed out of his area to make a first-time grasp of the ball but he missed as midfielder Richmond Lamptey appeared on the scene to finish off the ball to seal the victory for Kotoko and padlocked the lips of home fans.

The historic victory makes Kotoko just the only side after King Faisal to defeat Aduana Stars at the Agyeman Badu I Park since their entrance into the Ghanaian top-flight.

Kotoko has gone top of the table with 23 points from 10 games with a game in hand against rivals Hearts of Oak.
