MTN FA Cup: Kotoko 2-1 Deportivo – Evans Adomako strikes Porcupine Warriors into quarter-finals

Asante Kotoko have progressed to the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup at the expense of Asokwa Deportivo after nailing them 2-1 at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Tuesday.

The Porcupine Warriors have exacted revenge of their city rivals as they win against the side that eliminated them from the competition in February 2020.

Kotoko took a 12th minute lead after Fabio Gama converted a penalty kick. Kotoko were awarded a penalty after striker Andy Kumi was brought down in the box and the Brazilian converted it.

On the 38th minute mark Evans Adomako increased the advantage when left-back Ibrahim Imoro escaped into the Deportivo box and set the striker free for him to finish cleanly.

After the break Deportivo pulled a goal back through forward Asamoah Boateng who rattled Razak Abalora’s net with a ferocious drive.

Kotoko have become the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the competition as other games are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
