SCANDAL: Proton Sports & Kurt Okraku – Controversial Kofi Manu reveals why defender John Boye was banished from the Black Stars [Onua TV]

Controversial Ghanaian football administrator Kofi Manu, popularly known as Blue-Boy, has claimed defender John Boye was banished from the Ghana national team because of an agency deal.

Boye, 34, has not earned a call up to the Black Stars since featuring for the one-time West African powerhouse in the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt.

In an interview with Accra-based Onua TV, Kofi Manu has stated John Boye has been banished from the Black Stars because of a long-standing grudge between the former Rennais defender and the agency owned by Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku – Proton Consult.

“I have a file with all documents which I will be reading soon and it will show why this current GFA will never invite John Boye into the national team even if the coach needs him,” he told the TV station.

“Proton Consult previously wanted to transfer him to Israel but instead he joined Stade Rennais. I owe 5% of his transfer fee but I didn’t get my share. The Proton Consult were about to earn $70K from the initial move to Israel, but because he didn’t make that move, they have also decided not to hand him a Black Stars call up,” he added.

In a group featuring Morocco, Gabon, and debutantes Comoros, the Black Stars finished bottom of Group C with just a point from 3 games and a deficit goal aggregate of -2.
