This is Hearts of Oak’s probable XI vs Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Champions League – Caleb Amankwah & Kofi Kordzi to start

Hearts of Oak take on Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the first leg of the second round of the preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Samuel Boadu, head coach for the 2020/21 Ghanaian double winners, is poised to field a well-drilled side to take on the Red Castle at Ghana’s Wembley on a hot Sunday afternoon in Accra.

Goalkeeper Richard Attah has rejoined his teammates in camp after joining the Black Stars for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Zimbabwe in Cape Coast and Harare.

Congolese defender Raddy Ovouka has recovered from injury and even featured in the Phobians’ 6-1 thrashing of third-tier side Dzida FC last Sunday.

Strikers Kofi Kordzi, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, and Isaac Mensah have all hit rich veins of form ahead of the clash.

Boadu is expected to settle on Richard Attah to start in goal while captain Fatawu Mohammed will start from the right with Raddy Ovouka, Mohammed Alhassan, and Robert Addo Sowah completing the back four.

In midfield, Caleb Amankwah is expected to be shifted into a defensive midfield role and could play with Frederick Ansah Botchway in a double pivot system while Emmanuel Nettey will be deployed in an advanced role, working hand in hand with Salifu Ibrahim.

Striker Kofi Kordzi is likely to start in attack together with Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.

Hearts of Oak’s probable XI: Richard Attah – Fatawu Mohammed (C), Raddy Ovouka, Mohammed Alhassan, Robert Addo Sowah – Caleb Amankwah, Frederick Ansah Botchway, Emmanuel Nettey, Salifu Ibrahim – Kofi Kordzi, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.
