Top Ghanaian political reveals why Spain-born striking duo Nico and Inaki Williams do not want to play for Ghana [Happy FM]

Top Ghanaian politician Kennedy Agyapong has revealed why Spain-born brothers Nico and Inaki Williams have turned down a number of offers to play for Ghana.

The brothers, born in Pamplona and Bilbao, have turned down a number of offers from the Ghana FA to switch nationality to represent the Black Stars at the international level.

Former Ghana FA Vice President George Afriyie and other influential Ghanaian football personalities have met with the parents of the two players in the past.

But, attempts to convince the two strikers failed as Inaki remained committed to his interest in pursuing international football with Spain.

In the latest development, Ghanaian Member of Parliament and a member of the New Patriotic Party Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has revealed the reasons why the two players do not want to play for Ghana.

He spoke to Accra-based Happy FM.

“Two boys really like me and they are in Atletico Bilbao. They are brothers,” he told Happy FM.

“The Ghana Football Association came to see me that I have close ties with them. They told me they want to play but the way we criticize these players is too much especially the media so they get discouraged because of that they don’t want to.

Every human being always tries to favour his team members and players. If these players are not fit and they go to World Cup, they are able to sell these players. So they will always favour their players.

We need an independent GFA. I don’t know why they allow only football people to administer the Ghana football association or become the GFA president. I don’t subscribe to it,” he added.
