US-based Deborah Acquah is 2022 SWAG MTN/Adamus Female Athlete of the Year

United States of America-based Deborah Acquah has won the 2022 SWAG MTN/Adamus Ltd. Female Athlete of the Year.

She won a bronze medal for Ghana at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The holder of Ghana’s indoor long and triple jump records received more votes than fellow competitors Abigail Kwarteng and Rose Amoaningmaa Yeboah to emerge the ultimate winner in the contest.

She came third in the long jump with a leap of 6.94m in the final. This makes her set a national record.

Deborah Acquah also becomes the first Ghanaian to win a bronze medal at the Commonwealth games.

On 4 April 2022, the athlete who stands at 5 feet 11 inches jumped 6.89m in the long jump event during the Texas Dual Meet to set a new Ghanaian national record.

With that jump, she ranked number two in Texas A&M history and making her the seventh-best collegian of all time. Her jump was also the world-leading mark and placed her world number one in the women’s long jump event.

In August 2022, During the XXII Commonwealth Games, she jumped 6.85m with a wind speed of +1.1 to finish No.1 in the Q2 contest and went ahead to win bronze in the long jump.
