Young French trainer Romain Folz has claimed a board member of Asante Kotoko has contacted him to take charge of the Porcupine Warriors next season.
Barreto will not be in charge of the Kumasi-based next season as the Portuguese tactician has resolved not to continue as head coach of the club next season.
Kotoko’s hierarchy is unhappy with the performance of the former Ghana Olympic Team head coach and have decided to part ways with him at the end of the season.
The position of the club’s hierarchy and the stance of the head coach has reached a stage where it is impossible to resolve.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Pure FM the 31-year-old former Bechem United coach, who absconded from his role as head coach of AshantiGold in May, revealed a board member of Kotoko has spoken to him concerns an opportunity to take over as head coach of Kotoko next season.
“I got a contact from someone within Asante Kotoko Board telling me to come and coach the club next season if I’m free. I didn’t have much detail about him but he only said he’s a member of the Board of Directors of the club,” he said.
He will become the third coach to be appointed by Kotoko within 12 months if his appointment is confirmed by the club.
