BREAKING: Liberty Professionals, Ebusua Dwarfs and Inter Allies relegated from Ghana Premier League

Liberty Professionals have been relegated from the Ghana Premier League after failing to beat King Faisal on the final matchday of the 2020/21 season.

The club, which has produced many iconic players including former Chelsea star Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, John Paintsil and Derek Boateng, were promoted to the Ghanaian top-flight in 1999.

After 22 years as a top-flight club in Ghana the club is now heading to the second-tier league.

The Dansoman-based side drew 0-0 with Faisal at the WAFA Arena in Sogakope and have been condemned to the second-tier league as a result.

Kwaku Karikari and George Ansong both came close to snatching the winner for Liberty Professionals in the second half but failed woefully in attack as Daniel Laryea blew his whistle to bring proceedings to a close.

Elsewhere in Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs managed a 2-1 win over Bechem United but the outcome was not enough to save them from dropping into the second-tier division after Elmina Sharks claimed a vital 1-0 win over Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

The 19965/66 Ghana Premier League winners will compete in Zone II in the Division One League next season while Liberty Professionals and Inter Allies will compete in Zone III.

Allies had been relegated as at matchday 31 after failing to win games.
