Ghana Premier League: Legon Cities 3-2 Real Tamale United – Jonah Attuquaye scores last-gasp finish to steer Royals to victory over 10-man RTU

Legon Cities went temporarily top of the Ghana Premier League log after managing a slender 3-2 win over new-boys Real Tamale United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals had Jonah Attuquaye to thank for his 85th-minute penalty that proved the difference between themselves and the newcomers.

After sharing the spoils on matchday 1 against Great Olympics at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale, the Pride of the North headed south to take on Cities who also drew with Hearts of Oak on the same matchday.

Cities head coach Maxwell Konadu named Nasiru Moro, former Cape Town City FC player Joseph Adjei as well as Michel Otou in his starting XI while his RTU counterpart had former AshantiGold midfielder Sandan Abagna in his squad.

Joseph Adjei scored first for Cities on the 22nd-minute mark but David Abagna levelled the scoring 7 minutes later to end the first half in a 1-1.

Nathaniel Akwah restored the lead for Cities with a strike in the 54th minute before Attuquaye nailed the coffin of the visitors with a late penalty.

However, RTU attempted to stage a late comeback after Abagna scored another dramatic penalty 3 minutes from time.

RTU sits in 12th position with a point from 2 games while Cities lead the pack with 4 points from 2 games.
