Kotoko fans left red-faced after club presents GHS5000 cheque to Hearts attacker Daniel Afriyie for scoring against them

Asante Kotoko fans have been left to question the club’s policy of rewarding opposition players who score against them in matches.

The latest player to receive the cash prize is Hearts of Oak attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who hit the back of the net in Kotoko’s decisive loss to their bitterest rivals in the league two weeks ago.

The 19-year-old scored the solitary goal of the game on the 65th minute mark as Hearts of Oak claimed victory over arch-rivals Asante Kotoko after beating the Porcupine Warriors 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Kotoko has a policy that reward and encourage opposition players to give out their maximum performance anytime they face the Kumasi-based giants and the attacker was highly motivated as he fired home the only goal of the game a fortnight ago.

Afriyie Barnieh is a former triallist at Kotoko as he was rejected by the technical team of the Porcupine Warriors a couple of seasons ago. He has defy all odds to become one of the most influential players in the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup.
