VIDEO: MTN FA Cup boss Wilson Arthur claims arm-twisting machinations happen at GFA to take boardroom points [Pure FM]

Skyy FC bankroller and owner Hon. Wilson Arthur has claimed there was an arm-twisting machination at the Ghana Football Association which cost his side the opportunity to earn promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

Hon. Arthur has been reacting to the appeal case involving Tamale City FC and King Faisal regarding the fielding of an unqualified player with double identity – Isaac Mensah / Jireh Kojo Nisi.

The Daboase-based suffered boardroom points deduction in April after the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA docked them six points for fielding an unqualified player in the Zone II Division One league. The points deduction cost them their top spot on the league log with Nations FC eventually winning the league to secure promotion.

The protest case involving Skyy FC and Nations FC was a complex case of a player with double identity where the independent body of the football regulator punished Skyy FC who fielded the player.

However, in the case involving King Faisal and Tamale City, also in a case of double identity, the case body failed to punish the offending party which is Tamale City.

King Faisal filed an appeal against the decision which was heard on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the Secretariat of the GFA.

Reacting to the inconsistencies in the verdict of the Disciplinary Committee, Arthur, who is the chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, didn’t mince words and suggested that there have been arm-twisting machinations going on at the GFA.

“You could be winning the league and they will twist your arms and collect it from you to another club,” he said.
